Deze plaats was sinds 1557 in gebruik als laatste rustplaats voor de telgen van de Saadische dynastie. Zesenzestig overdekte graftomben werden overladen met snijwerk in cederhouten panelen en grijs Italiaans marmer. Alle graven liggen in de richting van Mekka, de dwarsliggende graven zijn van overledenen met een ander geloof. De plek telt 156 begraafplaatsen van prinsen, wettige echtgenotes en concubines, kinderen en dienaren. Het is een bloementuin omringd door hoge muren die eeuwen de plaats hebben afgesloten van de buitenwereld.
